With over 10 years of experience, Maria is a Generalist, a speech language pathologist who has a variety of skills and breadth of knowledge to serve a variety of clients with different needs.

As a speech language pathologist, Maria is committed to life-long learning and professional development. She understands the need to be at the forefront of innovation and professional excellence. Maria has extensive experience treating speech- language delays and disorders as well articulation and phonology. She is PROMPT level I trained.

Maria’s areas of expertise also include the assessment and use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) for children with complex communication needs including CP, Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI). She is knowledgeable in the use of LAMP Words of Life, Touch Chat Word Power, and TD Snap among others.

She is trained and has experience working with Gestalt Language Learners and providing services under the Natural Language Acquisition Framework.

In her work with children with complex needs, Maria has also gained extensive experience in the treatment of Feeding and Swallowing. She has completed the following specialized courses: NOMAS (Neonatal Oral Motor Assessment Scale), SOFFI (Supporting oral feeding in fragile infants), SOS approach to feeding, and Feed the Peds. Maria has also received training in orofacial myofunctional therapy from the International Association of Orofacial Myology IAOM.

Maria is native-level fluent in both English and Spanish.
