Skills & Qualifications

  • A Florida Speech Language Pathologist or Speech Language Pathology Assistant license is required.

  • SLPs and SLPAs must have pediatric experience.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

  • Many of our families are Spanish speaking. Conversational Spanish is preferred.

  • An inquisitive mind is preferred. As SLPs and SLPAs, we need professional curiosity to continue to grow and learn.

  • Compassion and empathy for individuals with different ability levels.

Responsibilities

All staff is required to follow the ASHA code of ethics.

The Speech language pathologist will:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the client’s speech , language, and/or swallowing abilities.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans.

  • Provide direct therapy services to individuals with communication disorders, fluency disorders, and feeding/swallowing disorders.

  • Collaborate and communication with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care and maximize the client’s progress.

  • Document client progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with team members.

The Speech language pathologist assistant will:

  • Collaborate with the Speech language pathologist to implement therapy plans and interventions.

  • Provide direct therapy services following the SLP’s plan of care.

  • Document client progress and maintain accurate records of therapy sessions.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other team members to ensure coordinated care.
